What I look for in anime: What's important in an anime is all dependent on what the anime is aiming for. Quite frankly, I can enjoy almost any type of anime as long as it's well done; if it's a comedy, it had better be LOL-inducing, action better have massive production values and a drama better have a damn good story. Other than that, as unobtrusive CGI as possible is always a favored addition.
